How to setup your eSIM

Should I install eSIM before travel?

Special Tips: Don't install your eSIM too early!

Each eSIM data plan has a limited number of days of service, so don't start installing your eSIM too early, or the billing will start counting down before the trip begins.

Best practice is to install your eSIM on the day of your travel.

Of course, there are two specific installation time points, one option is before you travel and leave, when you are still at home, and the second option is once you arrive at the destination airport, but it should be noted that you need a stable WiFi connection to complete the eSIM installation process.

You may prefer to install your eSIM earlier so you're not in such a rush. But remember, once you install and activate your eSIM, you can't pause your plan, so the expiration date will start counting down.

How to install an eSIM and access data? (Take iPhone for example)

Below we will walk through the steps with the correct settings to install the eSIM on iPhone:

1. Add eSIM

In this step, you will add a new, secondary data plan to your phone using the QR code.

Go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Use QR Code, Scan the QR code you received from RoamFree.

 2. Activate eSIM

It may take a few minutes to install eSIM on your phone.

After Cellular Setup Complete, you can assign a name to the eSIM plan on your phone. Name it "RoamFree" or the name of the country you're visiting!

3. Choose Default Lines

In this step, tell the phone which plan to use for Voice/SMS, iMessage, and Mobile Data. Choose Primary for the first two options, and use the RoamFree eSIM for mobile data only.

Important: Turn off “Allow Cellular Data Switching” to avoid high roaming bills on your Primary Lines.

4. Access Data at Your Travel Destination

By now, the eSIM is installed on your phone! You will see the new plan in your Settings with the label you chose.

The last step is to Turn on Data Roaming for the eSIM after you arrive at your travel destination.

Important: Turn on Data Roaming only at your travel destination! Do not Turn on Data Roaming at your home country!

Now you should be able to access the most fast and reliable network!
