How Long Does RoamFree eSIM Last? Expiry Guide

One of the most common questions we get from travelers is: “How long does a RoamFree eSIM last?” Understanding eSIM expiry rules is key to avoiding connectivity issues during your 2026 international trip—here’s everything you need to know.

RoamFree eSIMs have two key validity periods: the installation window and the activation validity.

First, the installation window: after purchasing your eSIM, you have 30 days to scan the QR code and install it on your device. If you don’t install it within 30 days, the eSIM will expire, and you’ll need to purchase a new plan.

Second, the activation validity: once you install the eSIM, the plan’s validity starts immediately. This depends on the plan you choose—we offer plans ranging from 3 days to 30 days, so you can pick the one that matches your trip length. For example, a 7-day plan will remain active for 7 consecutive days after installation, even if you don’t use all the data.

Important note: RoamFree eSIM plans cannot be renewed or extended. Once your plan expires or runs out of data, you cannot extend the existing eSIM. You will need to purchase a brand-new eSIM plan, receive a new QR code, and install the new eSIM to continue using data.

Pro tip: Install your eSIM a day or two before your trip to avoid rushing, but remember that activation (and plan validity) only starts once you install it. This way, you’ll get the full value of your plan and stay connected throughout your trip.
